Relationship Sucks

In the film everyday Helen Hut plays the mother of a gay son, that is struggling with her terminally ill father and cheating husband. Ned sturrgle with his workaholic job and the lack of reality flowes deep. Ned struggles lead him to fall for a coworker. It is a typical maragie but, ned is reassless. I think in this relation Hut is over whelmed by the needs of her family and the fact that ned, is a workaholic. It almost seams like Ned lacks emotion torwards his and family ned needs to go out and persue other women to make himself feel better and more manly. The consinted struggle to find a middle ground in a Margie is a comond bound in this film. The film sends a message that to have a success maragie you need a beautiful women. The stress of his marage is to overwhelming for ned to deal with. He has an affair with a yonger woman. This is a typical thing, because men are dogs. Ned dosent vailadate his wife or her needs. Ned falls for his more actractive female coworker. The struggles for maragie is a key part of the movie and life.

As always, men are stronger

I Went to see Mt St. Eilsa, it was about guys who skli. It showed how strong and determines men are. It proves once again that men are the stronger then women. That man can conquer nature, but women cant. To prove you are it didn’t pass the Bechtel. The entire film is male dominated. Oppression was a main competent because they were isolated in the middle of no where, without anyone else. The men try to stay alive through the freezing cold. They use there masculinity to fight to stay alive in the frozen wilderness. In the film it the film is center around male bonding and skiing. This is film I would consider a film that has a bromance, because in the film they were bonding through skiing and many times trying to stay warm. The Skier was determined to conquer the mountain as a team. This film had a lot of patriarchy in it. The entire film and it makers were white male. It showed how men are capable of doing the impositable, and consiterability the stronger of the sexs. Men have the courage to surived in the wilderness, no matter what happens.

here is a trailer of the movie i found on YouTube

Yodeling Twins anyone?

First thing that comes to mind when I saw The Topp Twins: total camp. Because these yodeling sisters, The Topp Twins were more then some old women who had larger then life personalities. I felt like there were some examples of camp in the Topp Twins, for instance, their over the top costumes. The Topp Twins were not just musicians; they were activist in Australia. They use their activism to raise awareness for gay and lesbian rights and to bring a positive message to gay activism.
I liked how the film had a serious side to it. The film portrayed the twins as two women not only conquering Australia but the world. They also had to deal with the sister Jewel’s battle with cancer. The film showed how no matter whatever happens to the twins, they have always been fighters. The Topp twins with their larger than life personalities got them through the hard times. This is proof that The Top Twins are not only “untouchable” but they are also unstoppable.
They use comedy to deal with there problems. My favorite of the Twins characters were i “Camp Mother & Camp Leader”. I liked how these characters each had their own individual qualities. I thought it was funny when their parents asked the question, where they went wrong. The truth is there parents didn’t make them gay. No one can make you gay. I think the Topp Twins showed us how we need to be ourselves and to not be afraid of what anyone else thinks about you! I have included a clip of one of my favorite characters!

Gay Media

This week we talked about gender identy. I never knew there were so many gender catagories. Gender has had a major impact on the media. In the pass decade stars have started to flaunt there sexuality more and more. In the 80s it was Elton john in his flamboyant costumes, in the 90s it was cheer, and these days its LadyGaga. This has always been a nation where sex sells. I think the biggest gender bender has always been Marilyn Manson, he just scared me. Some people think this is wrong and its wrong to be gay. I think the whole gay thing, its way over rated in the world and in media. But I do think in a world that is highly sexual, we are consonitally seaking out sex driven stars. Sexuality is a main things that drives our entertainment industry. Everywhere we look we see imagies of sex. These images can have a negative impact on our child!

Yes I'm DISABLED and Yes I'm gay...........and yes I'M now PROUD of it!!

This week we talked about disability. As a person who is living with a disability, this hit close to home. Sex and disability is a taboo topic. My experience with my disability and sex, has been an odyssey. It began when I was 18, I knew I wanted something was different. Having a disability and wanting something more in a relationship. What a weird combination, I always thought. How hard could finding my sexuality be, I always thought??!! I was afraid to come out of the closet because I didn’t know how people would react. To fit in a sexual society is hard, to fit into a sexual driven society as a disable person is an entire different thing. Sex and disability have always been a weird and realistic idea to me. To try to fit in to this perfect society as a disable person, who wants to be sexual. But yet society has label you as a fragile and delicate. I know that disability and sex is taboo, I really don’t care. If I was going to be a joke, as a disable lesbian…..i’ll just do what they always say..”fake it till you, make it”. Well I guess that just what I did, I just kept telling myself I was gay and I told people I was gay. After years, of telling people I was gay…I finally feel confident to say that I am a lesbian. That’s something that I feel safe to say. Its not about who you are and who you tell people you are. Its about the confidence you have in yourself and the identity you feel comfortable in. I found out if I tell people I am gay, they don’t think I am a joke…….instead they don’t make a big deal about it!!
I found this clip on YouTube, It spoke to me and I really identify with these people!

Can't we all have Health Care

It sad that not everyone can get health care. As a disable person I can’t get health insurance. I believe that everyone should be able to get issuance. I being on medicare I can’t get pass the red tape. In order to get prober and quality health care, I have two choices Medicaid or having to pay out of pocket. I’m not complaing, but I wish I could be able to pick and chose the doctors I want. I wish medical insurance was available for everyone. I wish that everyone could get free healthcare, in the USA. If we would stop butting in to other people’s business, perhaps we would all be able to have healthcare. We waste so much money on unnecessary money on things we don’t really need. If we could stop spending money on things, such as war. Then maybe we could afford health care. The fact that we are consider a wealthy country, but we can give certain people free health care. All over the world, people get free health care. I have a strong believe that everyone should have medical insurance, I think it should be require by law to have health care. That all medical care should be affordable.

I'm a women who stands up for herself and others...........not the "B" name!

Chick flicks have gotten more mature in the late 90’s and 2000’s with films developing a sense of strength in women’s roles. From “A League of Their Own in the early 90s to recent films like “Avatar”. Strong women are now in the driver’s seat. The stereotype of women fall into two categories: those categories I like to call , “girls” and “tomboys”.
There never was a middle ground; that was until Sandra Bullock played a head strong mother fighting for a child who wasn’t even her’s. For a women to be strong and assertive means that she is a “bitch”. When Sandra Bullock played a mom in The Blind Side, she joined another strong female role that I automatically think of: Rose in “Titanic”. She got the courage to stand up and break away from high society’s rules. It’s like the double standard in life; for women to be strong in life means she’s a bitch. But when men are tough, it’s considered macho and cool. Strong female characters have been pushing boundaries to prove that they can be stronger then men. But when a strong female role is played, it could send to the audience a negative message. One such film is Changeling, where Angelina Jolie played a desperate mother in search of her missing son. Everyone thought she was crazy when she didn’t accept the so called “son”. This is an example of double standard between men and women. I think if a man went looking for his son in the 1920s and knew that the child returned to him was an imposter, people would listen and trust his judgment, not think he was crazy. Women have a right to be strong and fearless!!
